House & Sinnett is a 10 piece soul, funk, R&B and rock ensemble formed by powerhouse drummer/composer Jae Sinnett. Complete with three singers, three horns and four piece rhythm section House and Sinnett’s conceptual direction with the music is in the classic tradition of the earlier soul bands but with a modern twist. Powerful, soulful, funky...the music is played and sung with melodic and rhythmic variation complete with deep grooves and originality. Elements of deep funk, soul and blues…are at the core of House & Sinnett’s presentation. Their debut CD…”Old School Loyalty” …is scheduled for a March 1st 2011 release.

As a “jazz” recording artist Jae Sinnett has 10 recordings out as a leader. He's performed with some of the greatest names in jazz including Frank Foster, Branford and Ellis Marsalis, Chuck Mangione, Charlie Byrd, Randy Brecker, Joanne Brackeen, Makoto Ozone, Jon Hendricks, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson and many, many more...but his career started in soul and rock music. Two of his jazz recordings topped out at the number one position on the national jazzweek radio charts..."Listen" and "The Sinnett Hearings." Now he's taking that successful formula to the soul genre. Jae is also a 21 year veteran broadcaster for NPR affiliate WHRV FM in Norfolk, VA. He's host and producer the very popular “Sinnett In Session” jazz show and also is host and producer for the classic soul program “The R&B Chronicles."

For the House and Sinnett project Jae wanted to go back to his roots which are based in the classic soul tradition. "I started missing the soulful quality that I grew up listening to with the bands out of the 60's and early to mid 70's. That group/band sound. Few bands heard on the radio today in the pop/soul formats. It’s more about the individual now. The melodicism and soul are missing in much of today’s R&B. House & Sinnett want to change that and bring back the feel good soul. I also love and miss the great stories in the lyrics of those classic songs by groups like EWF and Steely Dan and the amazing harmonic depth of Stevie Wonder. Wow!. Where is that today? I miss hearing real musicians playing instruments on CD's to create that special human feel. There's nothing like that soul. You can't get that with a computer. Sorry. I miss that sound and decided to do something about it...our way."

House and Sinnett structure in the classic concept of the earlier soul groups. Jae does the writing and arranging and incorporates many of the elements that have influenced him growing up like funk, soul, gospel, rock, blues and jazz. The writing of those early songs was deep and meaningful and the compositions of House and Sinnett each tell a unique story...played with passion, soul, emotion and high caliber musicianship. We hope you enjoy the music of House & Sinnett.
